Schooling for un-registered tech may be paid for, subject to terms of a training agreement.

This position performs prescribed overnight diagnostic sleep monitoring studies, which may include home sleep tests, to patients, with intermittent supervision from a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist as required by CMS guidelines. This position analyzes the results to aide clinicians with diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and care of patients. This position acts as a resource to the department.

1. Obtains artifact free sleep tracings that accurately reflect physiologic processes occurring during sleep of patients utilizing the latest technology.

5. Assists with the development of department policies, procedures and processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED plus six months of direct patient care experience or one year of post-secondary education. BLS Certification is required.

Must be enrolled in or have completed training in polysomnography in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) program with the polysomnography option. BLS Certification is required.

Upon hire or transfer, additional classes, testing and clinical hours may be required prior to applying for the Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) exam.
