Rose Ann Zumstein

It is with great sadness that we report the untimely passing of Rose Ann Zumstein on September 25th, 2014. We have lost a true leader, passionate mentor and devoted friend.

Rose Ann was extremely active in our organization and her profession. She served as AAST (APT) President from 2002-2005.    During her term as President she guided the AAST through significant changes, developing a strategic plan and making significant essential changes to keep the organization relevant. She worked tirelessly to assist our field to evolve and grow, establishing the standards for CAAHEP accredited polysomnography programs and serving as the CAAHEP Commissioner for the CoA PSG for many years. Education was her passion and she wrote several chapters for both editions of the Fundamentals of Sleep Technology. Her ethics, passion for mentoring others and generous spirit set the standard for current leaders.

Services were held privately and the family has requested that condolences be emailed tomizzstyx@hotmail.com. In lieu of flowers a donation towww.friendsofpets.orgin Rose Ann's memory is suggested.

To honor Rose Ann's memory and her passion for education, the AAST is proud to announce the Rose Ann Zumstein Scholarship. A scholarship fund will be established and initially funded by a contribution from the AAST Board of Directors to assist technologists requiring financial support to attend the annual AAST meeting and courses to further their knowledge and skills. Contributions to this fund will be accepted in Rose Ann's name at the AAST national office.

We have lost a great leader but will keep her in our hearts and minds as we assist others in our profession to continue their education.
